A roadside inspection can interrupt your trip when a serious violation is found. Start with the things you can check: qualifications, records, and the documents you need for your operation.
Federal and state roadside inspections reported for April–June 2026. All vehicle types in the selected FMCSA report.
During May’s International Roadcheck across North America—about 6% of inspections that included a driver.
CVSA’s “No Medical Card” category accounted for 27% of driver out-of-service violations during Roadcheck.
Know what these numbers mean. The quarterly count is calculated from FMCSA’s August 28, 2026 snapshot and may be revised. Roadcheck figures are from May 12–14, 2026; they are event results, not quarterly totals. Violation counts are not unique driver counts or your personal inspection risk. Medical documentation requirements vary; a paper card is not universally required.

The reported Q3 subtotal is 506,260. It is not a complete quarter: the snapshot is dated August 28, 2026. Missing September data does not mean no inspections occurred.
Separately, July 12–18 Operation Safe Driver Week resulted in 1,956 citations and 3,409 warnings to commercial vehicle drivers across participating North American jurisdictions.
This is a traffic-enforcement campaign, not a roadside-inspection census. CVSA results released October 5, 2026
